Statement From Chancellor Lester W. Young, Jr., the Board of Regents, and Commissioner Betty A. Rosa on the Anniversary of the September 11 Attacks

Today, we remember those who lost their lives. Our thoughts and hearts continue to go out to their family members, first responders, and everyone still suffering due to the horrifying terrorist attacks that took place on this day twenty-two years ago. The significance, memories, and emotions of 9/11 differ for every New Yorker, each having their own reflection and context for what they experienced that day.Ìý

For many, the idea that we all came together in solidarity, in spite of the acts of hatred, is at the forefront of what they recall from that day and the days following. This day reminds us of the power of hope and resilience and the importance of coming together as a community in times of crisis. Let us also strive to deepen our understanding of one another, recognizing and celebrating our differences while finding common ground.
